Welcome to Music Aid Africa
Music Aid Africa (MAA) was born and organized through the struggle within Africa. Its mission is to generate funds from concerts and other events to help alleviate poverty, hunger, diseases such as HIV/AIDS, malaria and diseases caused by infested-water. MAA will also support breast cancer foundations, educational programs for at-risk youth, children with special needs, women’s organizations, while being a resource for youth of musical promise. With support, MAA plans to establish a presence in all of the countries of Africa.
MAA was founded in 2007 by Sunday Morka (AZUKA OF AFRIKA) Nigerian-born musician and recording artist. Although he is happy to see outsiders express concern about the African continent and its people – Bono of U2 and British Prime Minister Tony Blair are examples – it has also made him more aware of the fact that Africans themselves need to be more accountable and responsible in other words be their own brothers’ keepers. Morka believes that the mystical nature of traditional African music has the power to heal and that African musicians have an obligation to share this with the world. Using their talents musicians can raise millions of dollars/naira for poor sick and starving people back home.
